Biography
Maui Filmmaker Kenneth K. Martinez Burgmaier has been a Director and Producer for over Fifteen years. He is the creator and host of the Award Winning TV Series, "JAZZ ALLEY TV", seen in over 80 Countries around the World.
A Director/Producer of TV Series, TV Specials and Documentaries such as: Musical Passport, Jazz ED TV, Jazz & Blues, Jazz Pads, St.Lucia Jazz fest, Reggae SumFest, Barbados Jazz Fest, Telluride Bluegrass Special that aired on A&E, Sturgis Motorcycle Rally 2000, Maui Music Fest 1995-2000, Morocco Jazz Festival, New Zealand Jazz Festival Big Island Slack Key Guitar Festival, Stanley Clarke-A Celebration of Black Music and Film TV Special,
The Congressional Awards TV Special-Washington DC National Smooth Jazz Awards-Chicago 2001 and San Diego 2002, The International Jazz Hall of Fame Awards TV Special-Tampa. The Ka Leo Hano Hawaiian Music Awards-Maui 2002 Thelonious Monk Jazz Competition 2000-2001 TV Specials held in Washington DC at the Smithsonian Institute and Kennedy Center He has directed many Music Video Projects for most of the Major Record labels The National Endowment for the Arts
Ken directed and produced the Thelonious Monk Jazz Colony TV Documentary hosted and Narrated by Academy Award winning Actor-Michael Douglas that aired on PBS and BET.
He has directed national and local TV commercials worldwide and has filmed underwater from the Great Barrier Reef, Hawaiian Islands, Mediterranean Sea, throughout the Caribbean, Indonesia, New Zealand...and more.
His Production Companies have produced two Award winning Feature Films-Quattro Noza and Brother Tied. Involved as an Executive Producer and Associate Producer that Premiered at the Sundance Film Festival 1998 and 2003 Quattro Noza-winning at Six Film Festivals Worldwide.
Director of European Jazz Passport which also screened at Film Festivals in 1998 His work has been seen on VIACOM, BET, BET JAZZ, A&E, PBS, CNN, E!, ABC, WorldNET TV, Unicom Japan and HBO.
Ken has Directed and Produced Documentaries, working with Michael Douglas, Peter Fonda and Colin Powell and has Traveled the Globe working on Film Projects and TV Specials in over 30 countries.
His 2003 Documentary Kiho' Alu-Keola Beamer has won over 10 prestigious awards since its creation. Quattro Noza won Best Cinematography at Sundance 2003!
His Recent productions include: Wa'a Ho'olaule'a -
(Festival of Canoes) which has won over 7 awards since its creation as well as his documentary film John Keawe - Music With The Island Touch.
3 new films have also just finished production: One Man One Voice, a journey into the life of songwriter, musician and actor Kris Kristofferson. BeBop to Hiphop, exploring the Jazz roots behind the unique style of street music that has evolved into modern day Hiphop.
